A Remii Electric Fireplace Recesses Flush Into the Wall, With No Frame Around the Glass

Every Remii here is a built-in. It sits inside a framed opening, and you can run drywall, tile or stone right up to the glass for a clean face. If you would rather not finish that close, a black steel surround comes in the box to cover the gap. The fire runs on a standard 120V outlet, with the plug on the left side, and each model can be hardwired by an electrician instead. The flame shifts between red, yellow and orange from the remote, and it runs with the heater off, so the fireplace stays in use through the summer.

Choose a Remii by How Deep Your Wall Is

The three models differ mainly in depth, and depth decides what your wall can take.

• Extra Slim needs a rough opening about 4 1/2 inches deep. That fits a 2x6 wall, which gives 5 1/2 inches, but not a plain 2x4, which gives 3 1/2. It is also the one Remii here with Wi-Fi app control.
• DEEP needs about 12 inches. The extra depth gives the media tray room for a layered log set or a designer media kit, and adds colored lighting above the flame.
• Extra Tall needs about 12 1/2 inches and has the tallest flame window of the three, at 17 3/4 inches, with the same colored lighting as the DEEP.

Every Remii Model Here Is Rated for Covered Outdoor Use and Bathrooms

Outdoors, Remii approves these fireplaces only where rain cannot hit them directly. The roof or overhang has to reach out in front of the fireplace, and to each side, by at least half its height above the base of the fireplace. An 8-foot roof line needs a 4-foot overhang. Remii also calls for its protective cover on an outdoor DEEP. In a bathroom, the fireplace must be on a GFCI-protected outlet or circuit and kept away from the tub and shower, because it is not watertight.

Be realistic about the heat outside. The heater blows warm air, and outdoors that air drifts off in any breeze, so an outdoor electric fireplace is bought for the fire. To keep a seating area warm, pair it with an infrared patio heater.

About 5,000 BTU From a Standard Outlet, for One Room

Each Remii puts out about 5,000 BTU on high, and Remii rates that for up to about 500 square feet. It is a fan-forced heater, so it takes the chill off the room it is in rather than heating the house. Every model is ready for a hardwired wall thermostat, which saves reaching for the remote and changing its batteries.
