Dimplex Opti-Myst Water Vapor Fireplaces and Inserts

Opti-Myst is the Dimplex water vapor fireplace. Instead of showing a flat flame image on a screen, it sends an ultrasonic mist up through the flame bed and lights it from below, so the flame and smoke have real depth and move the way a fire does. Nothing burns, so there is no venting, no gas line and nothing hot to the touch at the flame.

The Two Opti-Myst Models Sold Online

Aura 30, a built-in. The same unit installs front-facing, in a left or right corner, or as a three-sided bay, so it suits a new wall, a corner or a room divider.
Revive 25, an insert. It slides into an existing fireplace opening with a molded log set, which makes it a straightforward way to convert a wood-burning fireplace you no longer use.

Water, Heat and Wiring

Both refill from a pull-out water drawer at the front, so neither needs a water line or an air intake. The flame effect itself makes no heat. Each has a separate fan-forced heater of a little over 4,000 BTU that you can run with the flame or leave off. Both run on a standard 120V circuit.

How Opti-Myst Compares With LED Electric Fireplaces

Both can sit behind glass. The difference is the flame itself: an LED electric fireplace shows a flat, two-dimensional flame lit onto a dark screen, while Opti-Myst lights a real column of mist, so the flame and smoke are three-dimensional and move through the space rather than across a surface. The tradeoff is upkeep: the water needs refilling and the unit needs periodic cleaning, which an LED fireplace does not.
