IR Energy Radiant Patio Heaters in Electric, Natural Gas and Propane

IR Energy heaters are built around radiant heat: instead of warming the air, which a breeze or an open door carries away, they warm the people, furniture and floor in front of them. Modern Blaze carries three IR Energy series, one for each fuel, so the choice mostly comes down to what you can connect at the spot where the heater will go.

mWAVE: Electric Infrared, Smart or Pro

IR Energy mWAVE heaters are hardwired electric panels for walls, ceilings or chain mounting, with a woven carbon element that glows with less glare than a short-wave lamp. Smart models run from the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, a handheld remote, Alexa or Google Home, with five heat levels and a shutoff timer. Pro models leave out the Wi-Fi and wire to a thermostat, timer switch, occupancy sensor or building system. Every mWAVE is IP65 rated and CSA certified for indoor and outdoor use.

Habanero: Overhead Natural Gas Heat

IR Energy Habanero heaters mount on a wall or ceiling and run on a natural gas line. A triple-surface ceramic burner sits behind a wind guard, electronic ignition lights it, and the two-stage control switch steps it between high and low. With just 3 inches of clearance to the wall or ceiling and up to 30 degrees of tilt, it tucks in close above the seating. Housings come in black powder-coated marine-grade aluminum or 304 stainless steel, and the heaters are UL listed and CSA approved: indoor or outdoor in commercial settings, outdoor only at a home. Brackets come from the separate Habanero mounting kits.

evenGLO: Portable Propane

The IR Energy evenGLO GA201M2 stands on its own base and needs no gas line or electrician. Its 20 lb propane tank hides inside the base and lasts roughly 8 to 10 hours, and the included wheel kit lets you move it as the party moves. A stainless steel emitter grid and large reflector spread heat across an area about 20 to 24 feet across in calm, mild weather, a temperature dial sets the output, and a tilt switch cuts the gas if it is knocked over. Choose stainless steel, black or bronze. It is CSA approved for outdoor use only, and the evenGLO dome cover keeps it clean between uses.

Which IR Energy Heater Fits Your Space

• mWAVE if you have power but no gas at the spot, want app or voice control, or need a heater you can also use indoors at home.
• Habanero if a natural gas line is available and you want permanent overhead heat with more output per heater; at full output every Habanero model puts out more BTUs than the largest mWAVE.
• evenGLO if you want heat you can reposition or store for the off-season, with no installation.

Installation and Warranty

An mWAVE is hardwired by a licensed electrician on a dedicated circuit. A Habanero needs a licensed gas fitter for the gas connection plus professional wiring for its ignition and control switch. The evenGLO only needs assembling, which IR Energy recommends doing with two people, and a level surface to stand on. Coverage is 1 year for mWAVE components and for the evenGLO, and 3 years on the Habanero's ceramic burner with 1 year on its other parts.
