The Modern Flames Orion Slim is a slim built-in or wall-mounted electric fireplace designed for projects that need realistic flames in a shallower wall profile. With its 6-5/16" depth, the Orion Slim can be recessed into a 2x6 wall for a clean built-in look or mounted directly on the wall for a streamlined installation.
At the center of the experience is HELIOVISION™ flame technology, which creates a layered flame effect that feels more dimensional than a standard linear electric fireplace. Version 2 builds on that foundation with improved display quality, smarter controls, and a more immersive overall presentation.

HELIOVISION™ Flame Realism with Orion V2 Upgrades
Orion Slim uses HELIOVISION™ virtual flame technology to produce layered, multi-dimensional flames with more depth than a standard 2D electric fireplace. With 18 flame display options, adjustable flame speed, multicolor ember bed lighting, and multicolor downlighting, you can tailor the look to your room and style.
Version 2 refines that experience with sharper contrast, deeper blacks, adaptive brightness, and an upgraded log presentation for a more immersive overall look.
Smart Control with Sound and Comfort Features
Control the fireplace using the included remote, integrated touch controls, or the Modern Flames mobile app. Orion Slim also includes ambient crackling fire sound, thermostat control, and timer settings for added convenience.
The built-in thermostat can be adjusted from 68°F to 88°F, while the timer can be set from 30 minutes to 8 hours. Flames can be enjoyed with or without heat, making the Orion Slim a flexible year-round feature.
Installation and Fit
One of the biggest advantages of the Orion Slim is its installation flexibility. It can be fully recessed into a 2x6 wall for a cleaner built-in appearance or mounted directly on the wall surface when full recessing is not the best fit for the project.
No venting is required. The unit can be hardwired for a clean built-in look or plugged into a compatible outlet. Orion Slim is available in 52", 60", 76", and 100" sizes to suit different spaces.
If you want a more finished media-wall look around the Orion Slim, you can pair it with the Modern Flames Allwood Fireplace Wall System for Orion Slim Electric Fireplace. This wall system is designed for the Orion Slim 60" and is available with or without the fireplace. It includes the main wall section assembly, ALLWOOD mantel, hardware, and user’s manual, and it is offered in Weathered Walnut, Coastal Sand, and Driftwood Gray finishes. If you want to extend the wall system on both sides of the main wall, two side walls must be added separately.
Orion V1 vs. Orion V2: What Changed?
Version 1 and Version 2 of the Modern Flames Orion Slim share the same core platform, including HELIOVISION™ flame technology, slim installation flexibility, and strong supplemental heating performance. Version 2 is not a full redesign, but a meaningful upgrade focused on realism, customization, and overall user experience.
The biggest changes are in flame presentation and controls. V2 improves display quality for a more dimensional look, adds the new Modern Flames+ app with over-the-air flame updates, and upgrades the media presentation with enhanced internally lit logs. V2 also adds premium audio features, including Bluetooth streaming, for a more immersive fireplace experience.
