Description

The Most Powerful mWAVE, Made for High Ceilings

The IR Energy mWAVE 5000W is the strongest heater in the mWAVE series: a two-element electric infrared heater for walls, ceilings or chain mounting, indoors or out. It is meant for spaces where the heater has to sit high, like tall pergolas, hotel courtyards, golf lounges and halls, and still reach the people below. It warms them directly rather than the air, and it comes as a Smart version run from a phone or remote, or a Pro version that wires to your own controls.

Designed for Ceilings 10 to 14 Feet High

IR Energy designs this size for 10 to 14 feet. At 10 feet it covers roughly a 24 by 22 foot area, growing to about 27 by 26 feet at 14 feet. That is the floor space receiving IR Energy's minimum comfort level of radiant heat; it is warmest directly beneath. Under a ceiling lower than 10 feet the heat directly below can be too intense, and the 3600W is the better match.

Smart Runs From Your Phone, Pro Runs From Your Wall

IR Energy Authorized Dealer

Smart gives you five heat levels, from about a third of full output up to 100%, a timer of up to nine hours, an included remote, app schedules and zones through Tuya Smart or Smart Life, and Alexa or Google Home voice control. Pro has no Wi-Fi or remote and is slightly shorter. It wires to a line-voltage thermostat, a timer switch, an occupancy sensor or a building automation system, which is how most commercial installs run. Lower heat levels on a Pro need IR Energy's factory control.

Strong Heat With Less Glare Than Short-Wave

Its woven carbon elements glow a warm orange with less glare than short-wave heaters, so an evening dining room or lounge keeps its atmosphere. IR Energy rates it at 90% radiant efficiency under AHRI 1330 testing, and the IP65 housing is sealed against dust and water jets.

Best for Assembly Spaces, Showrooms and Tall Patios

IR Energy points this size at places of worship and assembly halls with 12 to 14 foot ceilings, and at showrooms and salons from 10 to 12 feet, where quiet operation and fast warm-up for occasional use matter. For a home, it makes sense under a tall pergola or a high vaulted patio cover.

Budget for a Larger Circuit on 240 Volts

Every mWAVE needs its own hardwired circuit sized at 125% of its draw, and this is the size where that matters most: on 240 volts it means a 30-amp circuit. The 208V version needs its own dedicated 208V circuit. Mount it at least 8 feet up, follow the manual's clearances for your angle, and use chains and anchors rated for its weight if you hang it. IR Energy builds the mWAVE in North America and covers its components for 12 months.

Features

  • The highest output in the mWAVE series, from two elements in one housing, for spaces where the heater has to sit high
  • Smart version: five heat levels, from about a third of full power to 100%, and a timer that shuts it off after up to 9 hours
  • Smart version: included remote (about 16 feet of range), Tuya Smart or Smart Life app with schedules and zones, and Alexa or Google Home voice control on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
  • Pro version: no built-in Wi-Fi or remote; it runs from a line-voltage thermostat, timer switch, occupancy sensor or building automation system
  • Pro version: running below full output needs IR Energy's factory-supplied control
  • Swivel brackets tilt it toward the people below: up to 67.5° on a wall, 45° on a ceiling, 30° chain-hung
  • Quiet radiant heat that is felt within seconds, with no fan and no drafts

IR Energy mWAVE 5000W Wall/Ceiling Mounted Medium Wave Electric Heater FAQ's

How high should I mount the mWAVE 5000W, and how much area does it warm?

It is designed for 10 to 14 feet: about 24 by 22 feet (roughly 530 square feet) at 10 feet, and about 27 by 26 feet (roughly 700 square feet) at 14 feet. Under a lower ceiling, the 3600W is the more comfortable choice.

What size circuit does the mWAVE 5000W need?

On 240 volts, a dedicated hardwired 30-amp circuit, which is 125% of its draw. On 208 volts, its own dedicated 208V circuit. Plan this with your electrician before ordering.

Should I choose the Smart or the Pro mWAVE 5000W?

Choose Smart if you want to run it from a remote, an app or your voice, with five heat levels and a timer. Choose Pro if it should switch on with a thermostat, a timer, an occupancy sensor or a building system, which is how most commercial spaces run their heaters.

Does an infrared heater use a lot of electricity?

It uses its rated wattage at full output, and less at lower settings. Smart models step down to about a third of full power, and because radiant heat is felt within seconds, you can switch it off when the space is empty instead of keeping air warm.

Can it be installed outdoors?

Yes. It is IP65 rated, sealed against dust and water jets, and certified for indoor and outdoor use.

What is the difference between the mWAVE 5000W and 3600W?

Same housing and two elements. The 5000W reaches from 10 to 14 feet and covers more floor area; the 3600W suits 9 to 13 feet and needs a smaller circuit on 240 volts.
