The Dimplex DLW Series 53 1/2-Inch Radiant Indoor/Outdoor Infrared Electric Heater.  produces radiant heat, which heats objects and people rather than the air. The DLW heater must be installed in such a way that objects and people are within the direct heat area of the heater. 

Position the heater directly above the area to be heated, with an ideal mounting height of 96" to 105". For ceiling heights greater than 105" installation with extension poles (sold separately) is recommended. In optimal conditions, these units can heat up to 44 sq. ft. in an outdoor enclosed area or up to 58 sq. ft. indoors. Please note that the coverage area will vary depending on various conditions such as wind, temperature, and mounting height. See the relevant section for each installation for more details.

It is recommended that the DLW heater be installed indoors or in outdoor spaces where there are 1, 2, or 3, enclosed sides. and It is recommended that when the heater is installed outdoors it is positioned where it is protected from extreme weather conditions like rain snow and ice.
