A Real Cast Iron Stove That Just Plugs In

The Sierra Flame Lynwood is a freestanding electric stove with a real cast iron body, made by Amantii in a 23-inch and a 28-inch width. It looks like a small wood stove on four legs, but it plugs into a wall outlet: no chimney, no vent and nothing to build. The flame runs with or without heat, so it earns its place in July as well as January.

Cast Iron Top, Sides and Front, Not Painted Steel

Most electric stoves are sheet steel shaped to look like iron. The Lynwood's top, sides and front are cast iron, which is why it has the weight and the crisp molded detail of a traditional stove. Plan on two people to carry it into place.

The front glass is beveled, so from an angle the fire reads almost as if you were looking through the sides. The cast iron top and front lift off when you set up the logs and media inside.

Best for a Room That Wants a Hearth but Has No Chimney

This is for a living room, bedroom, den or condo where you want the look of a wood stove and building in a fireplace is not an option. It stands on its own, fits a corner, and moves with you when you do.

Both widths share the same height, depth, heater and controls. Choose the 23-inch for a smaller room or a tight corner, and the 28-inch when you want a wider fire to look at.

Warm Air Leaves Through a Vent Near the Floor

The heater blows out through a vent below the firebox, so the warmth reaches you at floor level instead of rising straight to the ceiling. It has a high and a low setting, plus a thermostat mode that turns the heater on and off by itself to hold the room temperature. It is supplemental heat: it takes the chill off one room, it will not replace a furnace.

Turn the heater off and the flame keeps going, with flame colors from yellow through orange to red and colored lighting over the log bed, all from the remote.

Plan the Outlet and the Front Clearance First

Amantii asks for a grounded 120-volt outlet on a dedicated 15-amp circuit. On a circuit shared with other appliances the heater can trip the breaker, so pick the spot by the outlet, not only by the look. We recommend plugging straight into the wall rather than through a power strip.

Keep furniture, curtains and anything else that can burn at least 3 feet from the front. Amantii does not publish a clearance for a TV or a shelf above the stove, so ask us before you plan one. The cast iron does get warm in use, which matters in a home with small children.
