Hand-Hewn vs. Rough-Sawn

Every Olde Wood mantel is available in two textures. Hand-Hewn mantels are trimmed by hand with an ax, bearing more visible markings for a rougher, more rustic look. Rough-Sawn mantels are cut using old milling machines for a smoother surface while still showing the wood's age and grain.

Sizes: 6" x 6", 8" x 8", and 12" x 12"

Olde Wood mantels are named for the thickness of the original reclaimed beam they're cut from, not the shelf's length. A 6" x 6" mantel comes from a smaller original timber, while an 8" x 8" or 12" x 12" mantel comes from a larger, chunkier beam for a bolder look above the fireplace. Custom sizes are also available by request.

Each mantel is available in six finishes, or unfinished if you prefer the most natural look and want to finish it yourself.
