The Lexington Hearth Classic Non-Combustible is a wall-mounted cast mantel shelf with a clean, tailored beam profile, 8 inches deep, made in 60 and 84-inch lengths. It is the smooth counterpart to the rustic cast beams: intricate detail on the exposed edges, and no reproduced tool marks, checking or knots.

Non-combustible is what lets a television go above the fireplace

Cast in Burncrete and certified to ASTM E136, the standard test at 750 degrees Celsius. In Lexington's words the non-combustible option "allows for closer placement to heat sources, making it an excellent choice for safely mounting a TV above the fireplace." A wood mantel sits at whatever clearance your fireplace manufacturer sets, and that clearance is often what pushes a television too high to watch. Your fireplace manual still governs the height.

84 inches is the longest cast shelf in the range

The rustic beams stop at 72. The Classic goes to 84, which is what makes it the one to use on a wide masonry opening or a broad linear firebox where a shorter mantel would look undersized. The plain face is also what lets it cross periods: Lexington places the profile in Georgian, Federal and mid-century modern rooms, because a beam with no applied ornament carries nothing to date it.

It weighs 92 pounds at 60 inches and 125 pounds at 84 inches, so fix the bracket into framing

The bracket carries the whole weight, so it has to reach structural framing rather than drywall anchors. Bracket, hardware, touch-up kit and manual all ship with it.

Hand-painted, so no two are identical, and custom colors are available

Honey Oak, Mahogany and Walnut are the three standard colors. Lexington casts and paints each one by hand and states that there will be minor variances in color, weight and final dimensions. That is the nature of the product, not a defect. They will also produce custom colors and lengths on request, so contact us before ordering if the standard range does not suit. Order a Architect color sample first either way: what you pay for it is credited back when you buy the mantel.

Best for wide fireplaces, and rooms from traditional to mid-century modern

The Classic is the cast mantel for a room that wants presence without rustic character. Its three colors are wood tones rather than the weathered greys of the Bluegrass range, so it reads as a finished timber beam rather than a salvaged one.
