A 3-Sided Electric Fireplace Shows the Fire From Three Directions

Every Amantii TRU-VIEW has glass across the front and down both ends, so the fire can be seen from beside it as well as in front. That makes it the natural choice for a peninsula wall between a kitchen and a living room, the corner of an open-plan space, or a covered outdoor room where people sit on more than one side. Where every seat faces one wall, a front-facing built-in does the same job.

Three Sides, a Corner, or the Front Alone

Amantii approves four layouts: a three-sided bay with both ends open, a left corner, a right corner, or front only. The choice comes from how the wall is framed around the fireplace, so settle it before the studs go up. Front only is a real option on the XL and XT, which keep about 14 1/4 inches of firebox depth with the ends closed in.

TRU-VIEW XL, XT or Slim Depends on Height and Wall

The XL and the XT are both built-ins with the same depth, and the difference is height. The XL has about 15 5/8 inches of viewing glass, and the XT has 22, which makes its fire read more like a traditional firebox than a strip of light. The TRU-VIEW Slim is designed to sit partly recessed in a standard 2x4 wall, so it brings the three-sided look to an ordinary interior wall without a built-out chase. The small Cube is a box rather than a built-in: it hangs on the wall with the included hardware or stands on an optional base.

The TRU-VIEW XL ships without media or trim; the finished wall sits flush to its lip, and media is bought separately. The TRU-VIEW Slim comes with a log set, fire glass and vermiculite. For the larger models, Amantii designer media kits, decorative fire glass and Ember and Ice media dress the bed.

About 5,000 BTU, or Roughly Double on 240V

Plugged into a standard 120V outlet, a TRU-VIEW heater gives about 5,000 BTU on high and can stay off for flame-only nights. Amantii notes that the larger TRU-VIEW XL sizes produce extra heat when hardwired to 240V, up to about 10,000 BTU. The cord leaves from the left end on every model, so plan the outlet there or hardwire it.

Covered Outdoor Installs Need an Overhang

The TRU-VIEW is rated for covered outdoor spaces as well as indoors, and Amantii requires an overhang for any outdoor install. On the Cube, only the wall-mounted setup is approved outside; its base is for indoor use. In open air the heat drifts away quickly, so an infrared patio heater is the better way to keep a seating area warm.
