Six Cement Logs on a Remote-Lit Burner

The Majestic Radiant Burner with Duzy 3 logs is a vented gas log set that turns a wood-burning fireplace into a gas fire you start from a remote. The Radiant burner sits where the grate was, the 6-piece refractory cement Duzy 3 set goes on top, and the chimney still carries the exhaust away. It comes in an 18/24-inch and a 30-inch size, for natural gas or propane.

The Remote Lights It, and Batteries Run It

The Radiant burner uses Majestic's IntelliFire intermittent pilot, which lights the pilot only when you turn the fire on instead of burning it all day. Two D batteries in the burner power the ignition, so it needs no outlet and keeps working in a power outage, and the handheld remote turns it on and off. If you would rather not change batteries, an optional 3-volt transformer runs it from an outlet.

The Only Cement Set in the Duzy Line

The Duzy 3 is the one Duzy set cast from refractory cement instead of ceramic fiber, which makes it the heaviest of the three. Cement holds its shape and detail well, and six pieces give a fuller stack than the Duzy 2. Pick it if you want solid, substantial-looking logs.

The Duzy 3 Log Set Is Sold Separately

This page is for the burner. The matching Duzy 3 log set is a separate product in a size for each burner, and you need both for a working fire, so choose the log set in the same size as the burner. Glowing embers and lava rock for the burner bed are already in the box.

Bought for the Fire, With Some Heat on the Side

The burner is rated 50,000 BTU in the 18/24-inch size and 65,000 BTU in the 30-inch. That is the gas it burns, not the heat that reaches the room: because the exhaust rises up the chimney, much of the heat goes with it, and Majestic rates it as decorative or supplemental heat, not a primary heat source. If warming the room is the goal, a vent-free log set or insert or a direct vent insert keeps far more of it inside.

Measure the Firebox and Match the Gas Before You Order

Majestic certifies the Radiant burner only for a wood-burning masonry fireplace or a UL127 factory-built wood-burning fireplace, indoors, and the damper stays open whenever the fire is on. A damper clamp in the box keeps it from closing fully. The 18/24-inch burner needs a firebox at least 28 inches wide at the front, 18 1/2 inches at the back, 13 1/2 inches deep and 16 inches tall; the 30-inch needs 34 inches at the front and 24 1/2 at the back, with the same depth and height. Glass doors whose frame rises up to 3 inches off the hearth push the minimum depth to 15 inches, and the doors must be fully open whenever it runs. Order the gas your home has, keep 3 feet clear in front, and have the chimney professionally cleaned first. A qualified gas installer should fit it, anchor it to the fireplace floor and set the damper clamp.
