Lexington Hearth Wall Boards

A kit of six cast boards, two each of 4, 6 and 8 inches wide

Lexington Hearth Wall Boards are cast, non-combustible boards for cladding the wall above or around a fireplace. The kit contains six boards, two each in 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch widths, all roughly 47 inches long, so the widths can be mixed to avoid a repeating pattern.

Three widths is what stops it looking like a panel

Real reclaimed boarding is never one width, and cladding that uses a single board size reads as a product rather than as a wall. Mixing 4, 6 and 8-inch boards across a run is what makes the finished surface look salvaged. Plan the layout on the floor before you fix anything, and stagger the widths rather than running them in order.

Cast Burncrete, hand-painted, and certified non-combustible

Like the mantels, these are cast from Lexington's Burncrete formulation and certified to ASTM E136, the standard test at 750 degrees Celsius. Each one is hand-cast and hand-painted, so Lexington states there will be minor variances in color, weight and final dimensions. That is why the finish matches a mantel in the same color rather than matching it exactly, and why a sample is worth ordering if the match matters to you.

Best for fireplace walls and chimney breasts that need texture rather than another shelf

Wall Boards are the answer when the fireplace wall itself is the problem: flat drywall that makes any mantel look stuck on. Being non-combustible, they can run closer to the firebox than real timber boarding, which is the whole reason to use a cast product here. The three colors are weathered wood tones chosen to sit with the mantel range, so a board wall and a non-combustible mantels can be ordered to coordinate.
