Ventless Gas Logs With Remote

These vent-free gas log sets can be ordered with a handheld remote, so the fire turns on, off and up or down from across the room. The collection spans on/off and variable flame remotes on a standing pilot plus electronic ignition remotes, in natural gas and propane, for a wood-burning fireplace or a certified vent-free firebox.

Ventless Gas Logs With Remote, in Three Control Types

Most sets here offer the remote as an option on the product page, next to fuel and size. Real Fyre's log sets show the usual three choices:

    • On/off remote with a standing pilot. The pilot stays lit, and the handset lights and shuts off the main burner.
    • Variable flame remote with a standing pilot. Adds flame height control from the handset, so the fire can be turned down to a low glow or up for more heat.
    • Variable flame remote with electronic ignition. No pilot burns while the fire is off. The system lights the pilot when you press on, then the burner.

Monessen's Mojo uses its IntelliFire Plus intermittent pilot with an oxygen depletion sensor, runs it on batteries, and pairs it with a remote.

A Standing Pilot Keeps Working in a Power Outage

A standing pilot powers a millivolt valve from its own flame, so the fire lights and runs with the house power off. Only the handset and the remote receiver need batteries, and Real Fyre's manual lists AA batteries for the receiver. Battery-powered ignition such as Monessen's IntelliFire Plus needs fresh batteries to light, which is worth knowing if outages are common where you live.

Thermostat Control Is Allowed on Vent-Free Sets

Real Fyre designs its vent-free burners to work with a wall switch or a remote thermostatic control, and Monessen allows a thermostat only on the unvented room heater classification. So thermostat control applies only while the set runs vent-free. Run it vented and the thermostat has to go. Check the remote options on the product page if you want the fire to hold a room temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions about Ventless Gas Logs With Remote

Do ventless gas logs with remote work without electricity?

A set on a standing pilot does, because the millivolt valve runs on the pilot's own current and only the handset and receiver need batteries. Battery-powered intermittent pilot systems, such as Monessen's IntelliFire Plus, need fresh batteries to light.

What is the difference between an on/off and a variable flame remote?

An on/off remote only lights and shuts off the main burner. A variable flame remote also turns the flame up and down from the handset, which changes both the look of the fire and how much heat it puts out.

Can I use a thermostat with ventless gas logs?

Yes, on a vent-free installation. Real Fyre designs its burners for a remote thermostatic control, and Monessen allows a thermostat only when the set runs as an unvented heater. Thermostats are not allowed when a set is run vented.

    What does electronic ignition add?

No pilot burns while the fire is off. The system lights the pilot when you press on, then the main burner. On Real Fyre sets it comes paired with a variable flame remote.

What batteries does the remote need?

It depends on the system. Real Fyre's manual lists four AA batteries for the remote receiver and a 12-volt battery for the handset on its 12 and 15 models. Check the manual on the product page for the set you choose.

Are ventless gas logs with remote safe?

The remote changes how you control the set, not how it burns. The oxygen depletion sensor pilot still shuts it off if the room's oxygen drops, and the room size and bedroom limits for vent-free sets still apply. Real Fyre's manual also warns against leaving the fire burning unattended.
