The Same Heat as a Standard Calcana, in Half the Length
Calcana's patented High Output series puts the same BTU output into roughly half the run of their standard heaters. The 5 ft unit delivers 40,000 BTU, which the standard series needs 11.5 ft to produce. The 10 ft unit delivers 75,000 BTU against 21.5 ft on the standard. If you have a short overhead run and real heat to deliver, that is the whole reason this series exists.
"High Output" describes density rather than total heat. Both series top out at 75,000 BTU. This one gets there in less space.
Coverage. Calcana rates the 5 ft unit at about 64 sq ft and the 10 ft at about 144 sq ft, for a properly mounted heater in reasonable conditions. Wind will reduce both.
It mounts overhead or angled off a wall and radiates downward, heating people and surfaces rather than the air. That is what makes infrared work outdoors, where warmed air simply blows away. The burner modulates from 20,000 BTU up to full output, so you are not stuck with one heat level.
Indoors as well as out. These are certified for outdoor and indoor applications. Outdoors and under open cover they run unvented; for an enclosed space they can be vented through a wall or the roof. Calcana markets the range for mechanical garages, warehouses, greenhouses, car washes and loading docks alongside patios and restaurant terraces. Check the installation manual with your installer for the specific arrangement.
Two stainless grades. Commercial Grade is 304 stainless throughout, which is the full-stainless construction the standard series does not have. Marine Grade steps up to 316 for coastal and saltwater sites where 304 will eventually pit. Choose by site, not by budget: if you can taste salt in the air, take the 316.
Weight is 70 lb for the 5 ft unit and 120 lb for the 10 ft, so plan the mounting structure to suit.
Natural gas or propane, direct spark ignition with no pilot light, CSA approved, 1-year warranty. Made to order, so allow 6 to 7 weeks.
