Napoleon Woodland Series

Napoleon Woodland electric log sets sit inside a fireplace you already have, turning an unused masonry opening into a working feature without a gas line, a flue, or any masonry work. Widths cover the common masonry opening sizes, and every model plugs into a standard outlet with no gas line and nothing to vent.

Napoleon Woodland Electric Log Sets for Existing Fireplaces

Napoleon Woodland is an electric log set for a fireplace you already have. It sits in the existing masonry opening and plugs into a standard outlet, so an unused firebox becomes a working feature without a gas line, a liner, or any masonry work.

    What it saves you

Bringing an old masonry fireplace back into use normally means running a gas line and lining the chimney, which is the expensive part of the job. An electric log set skips all of it. The firebox stays as built and the damper stays shut, which also closes off the draft an unused chimney pulls through the room.

Measure the opening, not the surround

Measure across the front of the firebox opening and choose the set that fits inside with clearance. Measuring the outside of the mantel or surround is the common error and it produces a log set that will not go in.

    Heat, honestly

5,000 BTU on every width. That is supplemental heat for the area in front of the fireplace. The flame runs independently, so most owners run flame only for most of the year and add heat on the cold evenings.

See electric fireplace inserts for units that replace the whole firebox rather than sitting inside it, or napoleon for the full brand.

Frequently Asked Questions about Napoleon Woodland Series

What does the Woodland actually replace?

It replaces the work. An unused wood or gas fireplace normally needs a gas line run and a liner installed to become usable again. The Woodland sits in the existing opening and runs off a standard 120V, 15 amp outlet, so the firebox stays exactly as it is. It can be hardwired instead if you would rather not see a cord. It is quiet, and there is no mess and none of the extreme heat a wood or gas fire puts out.

    Which width do I need?

Measure the width of your fireplace opening at the front, then pick the log set that fits inside it with clearance. Measure the opening rather than the outside of the surround, which is the mistake that leads to a return.

Does it need a gas line or a chimney?

Neither. It is electric, so there is nothing to vent and nothing to connect. The damper can stay closed, which also stops the draft an unused chimney creates.

How much heat does it give?

5,000 BTU, which is supplemental. It will warm the area in front of the fireplace, not the whole house. Most people run the flame without the heat for much of the year.

Can I use it in a fireplace that still works?

Does it look like a real fire?

It is an LED flame effect behind a physical log set, so the logs themselves are real objects rather than a picture. Judged in a dim room it reads well. Judged in full daylight, like every electric flame, it reads as an effect.
