A Linear Smart Fireplace That Pushes Into a Finished Wall
The Dynasty Cascade is a built-in linear electric fireplace that goes into its framed opening after the wall is finished: the tile or stone goes up first, then the unit pushes in and screws to the finishing material on each side. It plugs into a standard 120-volt outlet or can be hardwired by an electrician, needs no venting, and works from its remote, the Dynasty app, or Alexa and Google Home.
Best for a Media Wall Where the Finish Goes On Before the Fireplace
The heater blows out of the front, so the Cascade suits the wall under a mounted television. The push-in install is the reason to choose it for a feature wall: whoever sets the tile or stone finishes around an open frame, and the fireplace goes in last. If the wall will be thick stacked stone or textured tile, look at the Dynasty Allegro, which can recess fully into the wall.
The Opening Is 19 1/2 Inches High and 6 Inches Deep
Dynasty's installation guide calls for an opening 19 1/2 inches high and 6 inches deep, with the width set by the model. Six inches is deeper than the 5 1/2 inches a 2x6 stud gives you, so the wall needs building out before the opening is cut. Make sure the finishing material to the left and right of the opening will take screws, because that is what holds the unit in place.
Red, Blue and Yellow Flame Colors You Mix Yourself
The flame mixes red, blue and yellow at adjustable intensities, and the bed underneath has its own color settings, so it can run from a traditional orange to a cool blue. A log set and crystal media both come in the box, so the look can change without buying anything. The flame works with or without heat. On heat, Dynasty rates it at about 5,000 BTU and 400 square feet, with a thermostat from 60 to 82°F and a timer of up to nine hours.
Plan the Power Before the Wall Closes
The cord is about 6 feet long, so decide where the outlet goes while the framing is still open. Dynasty's manual also allows an electrician to remove the cord and wire the unit directly, which is the tidier choice on a finished feature wall. At full heat the Cascade draws about 12 amps, so keep other heavy appliances off that circuit.
