Fireplace Warmth for Apartment and Condo Walls

The Sierra Flame WM-FML-34-4023-STL is a linear electric fireplace from Amantii's Sierra Flame line, built so you can hang it on a wall or set it into one. Hung, it needs nothing more than a mounting plate and a nearby outlet, which makes it a fit for apartments and condos where cutting into a wall isn't an option. Recessed, the charcoal steel face finishes close to flat. The flame, the backlight and the heater all work independently, and a touchpad on the face shows the temperature you've set. At this width it fills a bedroom wall or a small living room without crowding either.

A Plug-In Wall Mount That Suits Renters and Condo Owners

Hanging the 34 takes a mounting plate fixed with eight or more anchors, the fireplace lifted onto it, and a standard grounded outlet within reach of the cord on the left side. Nothing gets cut, framed or rewired, so it is one of the easier ways to add a fireplace where you can't renovate. Check your lease or HOA rules on wall anchors first, and plan on two people for the lift.

A Recessed Install Needs the Wall Built Out First

If you own the wall and want the cleaner look, the same unit goes into a framed opening with the brackets supplied. A plain 2x4 wall is too shallow for that opening, so the wall is usually built out a few inches first. Because the heat leaves through a slot in the face under the glass, nothing has to vent out of the top, and the steel face can finish within half an inch of the drywall.

Set the Temperature From the Face or the Remote

A row of touch buttons on the left of the steel face turns the unit on, steps the flame brightness, sets a shutoff timer and picks a target temperature, with the number shown on a small display. The buttons glow while you use them and fade a few seconds later, so the panel doesn't distract once the room is dark. The remote does all of that plus the flame color mix and the backlight color, and the fireplace remembers what you chose last time.

Plan the Outlet and the Glass Before You Hang It

Sierra Flame wants a 15-amp, 120-volt circuit, ideally one the fireplace has to itself, and no extension cord. If the outlet sits right behind where the unit hangs, the plug may not clear the mounting plate, so check its position against the left-side cord before drilling. Clear glass is included; any colored glass is easiest to add before the unit goes up, since the steel face has to come off to reach the tray. Bathrooms, laundry rooms and outdoor spaces are excluded in the manual, so keep it in a dry living space. The lead time listed with the price is the one to plan around.
