A Water Vapor Fireplace Insert for the Fireplace You Have

The Dimplex Opti-Myst Revive is a 25-inch water vapor fireplace insert. It slides into an existing fireplace opening and gives it a flame made of mist and light over a charred log set, with no gas, smoke or ash. It can also be built into a new wall or surround. The heater is optional, so you can run the flame on its own all year.

It Fits Any Opening at Least 25 1/4 Inches Wide

The Revive needs an opening at least 25 1/4" wide, 25" tall and 12" deep, so measure yours before anything else. If yours is much larger, a Dimplex trim kit frames the gap so the insert does not look lost in it. The kit comes in 36" x 32" and 40" x 35" sizes.

The Flame Is Mist Over Logs, Not a Picture of a Fire

Water from the tank is turned into a fine mist and lit from below by LEDs, so it rises through the logs the way smoke and flame do. Because it is real mist rather than an image, it has depth you can see from across the room. You can choose one of five flame colors or let Prism mode cycle through them, set one of six flame heights, and add a crackling log sound.

Run It With Heat in Winter and Flame Only in Summer

The fan-forced heater switches on separately from the flame. Dimplex rates it for supplemental heat in spaces up to 1,000 square feet, and it has a thermostat, a timer, a weekly schedule and frost protection.

Best for Bringing an Unused Wood Fireplace Back Into Use

Clean and Block the Chimney Before It Goes In

Dimplex calls for the chimney to be professionally cleaned and blocked off before the Revive goes in. That is about the flame as much as safety: an open flue pulls air, and a mist flame bends in a draft like a candle does. Keep the gap under the drawer clear, since that is where it draws air.

It is hardwired as standard, with an optional plug kit for an outlet. Plan the power at the firebox before you slide it in. Use clean tap water, softened if your water is hard, and rinse the tank and reservoir about once a month.
