An Electric Insert That Slides Into an Existing Firebox and Plugs In
The Dynasty Presto is an electric fireplace insert with a lit resin log set, made to slide into an existing wood or gas fireplace or to build into a new wall. It plugs into a standard 120-volt outlet, needs no venting, and plays the sound of a crackling wood fire alongside the flame.
Best for Retiring a Wood or Gas Fireplace You No Longer Use
If you have a masonry fireplace you have stopped burning in, or a gas unit you would rather not service, the Presto fills the opening with a traditional log-and-flame look and nothing to burn. It also suits a new build where you want a classic firebox shape inside a mantel rather than a long linear flame. It runs from a remote, not an app, so if you want phone or voice control, look at the smart electric fireplaces instead.
Measure the Opening First: It Needs at Least 8 Inches of Depth
Before ordering, measure the width, height and depth of the firebox opening. Dynasty's manual gives a minimum opening depth of 8 inches for the two smaller sizes and 9 inches for the largest, along with the range of opening widths and heights each size fits, so check your measurements against the manual linked on this page. Dynasty rates it zero clearance, so it can be trimmed tight to drywall, tile or wood. Check that the cord can reach an outlet without an extension cord.
Three Flame Settings and a Crackle With Six Sound Modes
A downlight lights the logs from above, and the flame runs at three settings: full brightness with a touch of blue, full brightness, or half brightness for a softer evening look. The crackle plays at three volumes, each with or without the sound of wind behind it. The flame works with or without the heater, and a thermostat dial on the unit holds the room where you set it. On heat, Dynasty rates it at 400 square feet, enough to take the chill off a living room as supplemental heat rather than replace the furnace. It draws about 15 amps on high, so keep other heavy appliances off that circuit.
Choose the Mantel Before the Insert Goes In
In a new wall the insert needs a surround to sit in. Pick the mantel first and check its opening against the insert size, rather than framing an opening and hunting for a mantel to fit it. Browse fireplace mantels.
