Description
A Concrete Fire Table That Runs on Natural Gas or Propane Out of the Box
The Olympus Rectangular is a freestanding gas fire pit table cast from glass fiber reinforced concrete, or GFRC. It comes in 60 and 72 inch lengths at a seated 18 inch height, and the box carries both a natural gas and a propane orifice, so you choose the fuel at install rather than at checkout. The angled top leaves more than 10 inches of ledge around the flame, enough for plates and drinks.
The Color Is Dyed Through the Concrete, Then Sealed in UV Resistant Paint
GFRC is concrete with glass fibers mixed in to reinforce it, a little like rebar spread through the whole pour. Grand Canyon casts these tables in the U.S., dyes the color all the way through, then finishes them in a high temperature, UV resistant paint. The pigment mix varies from piece to piece, so no two tables match exactly.
One Long Linear Burner Runs the Length of the Table
The flame comes from a stainless steel linear drop-in pan, lit with a match and controlled by a key valve. On the 60 inch table it is Grand Canyon's 36 inch burner, rated at 65,000 BTU on either fuel. Cover it with fire glass or lava rock, no more than an inch over the burner.
Best on Pavers, Concrete or Stone, Where It Can Stay Put
This table suits a dedicated outdoor seating area on a solid surface such as pavers, concrete or stone. It is not for grass or dirt, which block the ventilation built into the base. It is also not a portable piece: the 60 inch weighs about 370 lbs and the 72 inch about 410, so place it once.
If you want the propane tank hidden inside the table, the 18 inch model will not do that. Grand Canyon says not to put a tank under it. The 24 inch tall Olympus LP has an access door for exactly that.
Keep It Covered, or the Warranty Will Not Cover It
- A cover is a warranty condition, not an extra. Grand Canyon requires GFRC tables to be covered when not in use to prevent efflorescence, the white mineral bloom that forms when water moves through concrete.
- Do not run it in high wind. Flame pushed onto the concrete can crack and discolor the finish. A glass wind guard steadies the flame on a breezy evening, but it is not a license to light it in a gale.
- Leave 16 inches to side walls and 68 inches to anything overhead.
- Hire a licensed gas installer. Grand Canyon's warranty requires one, and natural gas means a hard-plumbed line.
- Plan for freight. The table ships by LTL freight, and it is made to order.
