Description
Reflective Fire Glass Sold by the 10 lb Container, in Seven Colors
Athena reflective fire glass is 1/2 inch glass made to sit over a gas burner, in place of lava rock or logs. Each container holds 10 lbs, and each color is its own container, so you can buy one color or mix several.
How Much You Need Depends on the Burner, Not the Table
Cover the burner completely, but with no more than an inch of glass over the top. That depth is what matters: piling it deeper smothers the flame and gains you nothing. For the Athena Olympus tables, Grand Canyon specifies 20 lbs for the 60 inch rectangular tables and 30 lbs for the round and square, which is two and three containers.
Glass and Lava Rock Can Share a Burner
Lava rock underneath and glass on top is a common way to stretch the glass. Use lava rock 1 to 2 inches across and rinse the dust off first. Cannon balls and logs can sit on top as accents.
Best for Gas Fire Pits and Outdoor Fire Features
Grand Canyon makes it for fire pits and other outdoor fire features. For an indoor gas fireplace, use the media that fireplace's manufacturer specifies.
Let It Dry Before You Light It
- Wet glass can crack. Moisture trapped in any fire media can expand fast when it heats up, which can make a piece pop. After rain, let the bed dry before lighting.
- Do not touch it while the fire is on, or right after. The glass gets hot.
- Leave the pilot uncovered on burners that have one, so it can breathe.
