Power: What You Need to Know Before You Order

The Orion Multi does not include a power cord, because it is designed to be built into the wall and hardwired. Modern Flames leaves the cord out on purpose: a recessed fireplace is meant to be wired inside the wall, and putting an outlet back there is generally against building code.

The Floating Mantel Set includes the cord. If you want to wall mount the Orion Multi and plug it into a standard 120V outlet, order it together with the Orion Multi Floating Mantel Set. That pairing is the wall mount kit, it ships with a power cord, and it means no framing and no hardwiring.

Two more things worth knowing. A wall mount bracket is included with the fireplace, so you can wall mount without the mantel, but the unit then stands roughly 9 inches off the wall, which is the problem the mantel set is designed to solve. And if you would rather supply your own cord, it needs to be 12 or 14 gauge.

For 240V operation and the higher heat output, a dedicated two-pole breaker and a qualified electrician are required in any configuration.
