Description

The replacement center grill grate for any 40-inch Arteflame cooktop. It sits directly over the fire, the hottest spot on the grill, and it is where you sear before moving food out to the flat-top ring to finish.

It fits 40-inch Arteflame cooktops only

This grate is made for the 40-inch cooktop on the Classic 40 and Stainless Steel grills and fire pits. It does not fit the ONE20 or ONE30.

Order it as a replacement or if your setup never had one

Every 40-inch Arteflame we sell with a cooktop already includes a center grate, so most owners only need this one if theirs is worn, or if they bought a cooktop setup without the grate.

Sear first, then finish on the cooktop

Put steaks, chops or burgers on the grate for the crust and grill marks, then slide them onto the flat-top ring where it is cooler to cook through. That two-step is the whole point of the Arteflame design, and the grate is what makes the first step possible.

Which Arteflame grills does this grill grate fit?

Arteflame 40-inch cooktops: the Classic 40 fire pits and grills and the 40-inch Stainless Steel grills. It does not fit the ONE20 or ONE30.

Do I need this if I bought an Arteflame with a cooktop?

Usually not. Every 40-inch Arteflame we sell with a cooktop includes a center grate. Order this as a replacement when yours is worn.

What is the center grill grate used for?

Direct-flame searing. It sits right over the fire, the hottest spot on the grill, so food gets a crust and grill marks before you move it to the flat-top ring to finish.

How do you season and clean an Arteflame cooktop?

Treat it like cast iron. Season it with the included seasoning puck, then after each cook scrape it clean while it is still warm and wipe on a light coat of oil. That builds a natural, low-stick patina that improves the more you use it.

How hot does the Arteflame cooktop get?

The center grill grate sits directly over the fire and passes 1,000°F, which is where you sear. On a 40-inch cooktop Arteflame measured about 450 to 550°F near the inner edge and 250 to 350°F toward the outer rim, so you can sear, cook and keep food warm at the same time. Give the steel 30 to 45 minutes to heat through before you start cooking.

Can you burn charcoal in an Arteflame instead of wood?

Yes. Arteflame rates it for seasoned hardwood or lump charcoal. Wood gives you a bigger flame and more of a fire pit feel; lump charcoal gives steadier heat for longer cooks.
