Dimplex Opti-Myst Water Vapor Fireplaces

Dimplex Opti-Myst Water Vapor Fireplaces, Inserts and Cassettes

Opti-Myst is the Dimplex water vapor fireplace. Instead of showing a flat flame image on a screen, it sends an ultrasonic mist up through the flame bed and lights it from below, so the flame and smoke have real depth and move the way a fire does. Nothing burns, so there is no venting, no gas line and nothing hot to the touch at the flame.

Opti-Myst Formats

• Built-in fireplaces. Linear and box-format units framed into a wall or media wall for a finished, recessed look.
• Inserts. Models such as the Revive drop into an existing fireplace opening and come with a log set, which makes them a straightforward way to convert a wood-burning fireplace.
• Cassettes. Compact flame modules for designers and builders, set into a custom surround, a fire table or an architectural feature.
• Freestanding. The Opti-Myst stove needs no framing and sits wherever there is a floor and an outlet.

Water, Heat and Wiring

Each unit runs from a refillable water tank or drawer, and some built-in models and cassettes also accept a water line for continuous operation. The flame effect itself makes no heat. Most models here include a separate heater you can switch on independently, while the cassette adds one through an optional accessory, so check each product page for heat output. Most plug into a standard outlet or come with a plug kit, and several can also be hardwired.

How Opti-Myst Compares With LED Electric Fireplaces

Both can sit behind glass. The difference is the flame itself: an LED electric fireplace shows a flat, two-dimensional flame lit onto a dark screen, while Opti-Myst lights a real column of mist, so the flame and smoke are three-dimensional and move through the space rather than across a surface. The tradeoff is upkeep: the water needs refilling and the unit needs periodic cleaning, which an LED fireplace does not. If you want the most lifelike flame and are happy with that routine, water vapor is the format to choose. Compare it with the rest of the range in Dimplex electric fireplaces.
