Description
A Built-In Linear Fireplace for Inside or Out
The Dimplex Ignite Evolve is a built-in linear electric fireplace. It goes into a framed opening in the wall, so all you see is a long window of flame with a thin black edge. Dimplex rates it for covered outdoor spaces as well as indoor rooms. The flame runs with or without heat, so it works all year, and you can control it from your phone, the remote, or touch controls hidden on the fireplace itself.
Wired to 240V, the Heat Output Nearly Doubles
On a standard 120V circuit the Evolve puts out 5,118 BTU. Hardwired to 240V it reaches 8,530 BTU, and Dimplex rates it as supplemental heat for up to 1,000 square feet. A fan pushes the warm air out through a vent along the front, so there are no louvers on the face.
Every size has the same heater, so pick the width for the wall, not for the heat. On 120V you can use the included plug-in cord or hardwire it. 240V has to be hardwired, and Dimplex recommends a dedicated 15 amp circuit either way.
Flush in a 2x6 Wall, Partially Recessed in a 2x4

A 2x6 wall gives the 5-1/2 inches of depth the Evolve needs to sit flush. In a 2x4 wall it sits partly proud of the drywall, and Dimplex recommends the XLF Trim Kit to finish that edge. That matters, because most existing interior walls are 2x4.
It ships with a slim trim for drywall and tile. Against stone or brick you can remove it for an edge-to-edge look. Keep the finish material from overhanging the opening by more than 1/2 inch, so the warm air can get out.
Rated for Covered Outdoor Spaces Under an Overhang
Dimplex certifies the Ignite Evolve for outdoor use where an overhang keeps direct water off it, and recommends a ground-fault protected circuit. To keep the warranty, the overhang can sit no higher above the bottom of the fireplace than three times how far it projects. An overhang 9 feet up needs to reach at least 3 feet out on all sides. The warranty is 5 years indoors and 1 year outdoors, and outdoor units should be inspected every season.
Outdoors, moving air carries the warmth away whatever the BTU figure says. Buy it for the flame, and let overhead patio heaters keep people warm.
Seven Flame Themes and Eight Ember Bed Colors
The flame mixes orange, blue and a base color across seven themes and five speeds. The ember bed has eight moods, including two that cycle through colors and a midnight mode that turns it off. An ambient light sensor adjusts the lighting to the room, so the fire does not wash out in afternoon sun or glare at night. The media is layered acrylic crystals, tumbled glass and driftwood in front of a mirrored back panel.
Run It From the App, the Remote or Hidden Controls
The Flame Connect app works over WiFi, so Dimplex says to install the fireplace where WiFi reaches. Check that early, because a basement wall or a covered patio is often where the signal is weakest. The app also passes on feedback from the unit's self-diagnostics.
The included remote is infrared, so point it at the front of the fireplace. The hidden touch controls sit at the upper right of the fireplace. Neither needs the network.
Best for Long Feature Walls and Covered Patios
The Evolve suits anyone who wants a clean linear fireplace that sits flat in the wall, with real supplemental heat when it is wired for it. Because it is rated for covered outdoor use, it also works for an outdoor living room under a roof. The 100-inch size fills a long wall in an open plan room. If the fireplace is mainly for looks, 120V on the included cord is enough.
Settle the Circuit and the Opening Before the Wall Closes
Ask your electrician whether a 240V circuit can reach the wall before you order. Without it, the fireplace still works on 120V, at about 60% of the heat.
Frame to Dimplex's framing dimensions, not the fireplace's outside dimensions, and leave at least 18 inches of cable at the bottom right. Dimplex recommends the bottom of the fireplace sit 5 to 40 inches off the floor, and the top at least 24 inches below the ceiling. For a TV or mantel above it, follow the heat diagram in the manual. Plan on two people for the install, and fit the front glass before first power-up.
Optional Accessories
- Dimplex XLF Trim Kit: for a partially recessed install in a 2x4 wall. Order the size that matches your fireplace.
