A damper clamp in the box keeps it from closing fully. The 24-inch burner needs a firebox at least 30 inches wide at the front, 20 inches at the back, 23 inches deep and 15 inches tall; the 30-inch needs 36 inches at the front, 20 at the back, 29 deep and 15 tall. Order the gas your home has, keep curtains, furniture and anything flammable at least 36 inches from the front, keep any glass doors fully open while it runs, and avoid a high-traffic, windy or drafty spot. Have the chimney professionally cleaned first. A qualified gas installer should connect it with the included flex line, secure the burner to the fireplace floor and set the damper clamp.
