Built-in electric fireplace collection

A built-in electric fireplace is a ventless electricity-powered fireplace imitation that is designed to be installed inside a wall opening.

There are two styles of recessed/built-in electric fireplaces: linear recessed electric fireplaces and recessed electric fireplace inserts that are shaped more like a traditional fireplace.

Linear electric fireplaces built in the wall have this popular long horizontal fireplace look that is perfect for modern interiors.

An electric fireplace insert (firebox) has a more traditional look and feature classic fireplace proportions.

Do Built-in Electric Fireplaces Provide Heat?

Most built-in electric fireplaces come with heaters and can heat 500 - 1000 sq. ft. The heater works independently from the flame effect allowing you to use these fireplaces even in the heat of the summer with the heater turned off.

You can use our collection filters to narrow down your search to only fireplaces that can heat your area.

Which Electric Fireplace Gives the Most Heat?

When hardwired to a 240 V outlet, these electric fireplaces can put out up to 10,000 BTUs, which is twice the standard heat output:

How to Install a Recessed Electric Fireplace?

Both types of built-in fireplaces, linear and inserts, can be installed into any wall including drywall as well as cabinetry. Basic steps to install a recessed electric fireplace:

  1. Create an opening in the wall.
  2. Rough in the framing opening following the recommended framing dimensions.
  3. Hardwire it in (licensed electrician).
  4. Place the fireplace into the framed opening.
  5. Attach the fireplace to the frame.
  6. Install the decor and front glass and/or frame.

Most recessed electric fireplaces come with a cord to plug them in and an option to hardwire them. Some models are hardwired only. Hardwiring is a preferred method of installation.

We recommend hiring a licensed electrician to properly install your recessed electric fireplace. All wiring needs to be done before installing the fireplace.
